#Grateful

It was a really big week in the Carrion household. My husband Lazaro became a United States citizen on Tuesday, something we (and particularly he) have been working on for a long, long time. (Some day we’ll write about our story).

At the ceremony, after the official oath is sworn, they play God Bless America. Tears of joy streamed down my face. I felt an enormous sense of gratitude. God has worked in miraculous ways, opening doors, and introducing us to exactly the right people. So many friends and family members wrote letters, prayed for us, and supported us along the way.

Lazaro knew this day would come. He’s visualized it for a long time. Even when it seemed impossible, he had hope, and I had hope. We knew that some day we would get there together.

As we left the immigration office, we were filled with an overwhelming sense of joy and gratitude. If we can get through this we can get through anything. If this dream became a reality, what big dreams will we go after next?
